Bacardi selected global marketing services company, adm Group Ltd, as a key partner to support their Shake Your Future initiative, a bartending programme training 12 unemployed youths from less privileged backgrounds, and turning them into mixologists in just 10 weeks.
adm Group Ltd utilised their strong supplier partnerships to be able to provide branded barware items for the trainees to use throughout the programme, with all items supplied free of charge.
Ivan Concepcion, Global POS Procurement Director, Bacardi said: “Our first Shake Your Future trainees have undertaken an intensive training programme over the past ten weeks. In this time, they have honed their skills in bars in both Paris and Barcelona. I am delighted that all trainees have graduated from the programme and achieved their advanced qualification in bartending. CSR is an integral part of our business and we are lucky to partner with adm who also place such a strong importance on CSR.”
Nik McLachlan, Global Account Director, adm Group Ltd commented: “When Bacardi approached us to be involved in Shake Your Future we were immediately excited about the initiative and wanted to support Bacardi in their mission to reduce youth unemployment. adm has a strong CSR programme and responsible business practices underpin everything that we do. I want to congratulate everyone that recently graduated from Bacardi’s Shake Your Future programme and we look forward to being involved in kitting out the next intake of trainees.”
This first programme took place in St Ouen, France, a location chosen due to France having one of the highest youth unemployment rates at 24.6%. The participants have recently finished the programme in Barcelona, where they received their advanced qualification in bartending. Following the success of the pilot in France, the plan is to extend the programme to all major capitals over the next five years.
